One week stay on Anna Maria Island (FL) at Simplicity Cottage

One week stay at Simplicity Cottage, Anna Maria, FL.

Anna Maria is an island off the west coast of Florida. It is 7 miles long and 1/2 mile wide. Simplicity Cottage, in the northern-most town on the island, is located midway between gulf and bay on a quiet cul de sac in a residential neighborhood.

The house is 3 blocks to the sugar sand beaches of the Gulf of Mexico and has the most beautiful sunsets you have ever seen. The beaches are wide and uncrowded, and the gulf is Caribbean blue and so clear.  A free shuttle bus runs around the island and the "downtown" of Anna Maria which is just a few blocks long and has been given environmental awards for its green initiatives. Anna Maria has a 3 story height limit which keeps it uncrowded. The island looks like old Florida with no high rises and no chain stores.

The cul de sac location of Simplicity Cottage guarantees a quiet and very protected retreat, with a large private salt water pool in the backyard and a new 20 foot long dock in the canal.  Fishing gear & a kayak are supplied for your recreational enjoyment. And 2 adult bikes and 2 for kids. Beach chairs and an umbrella and sand and pool toys are also provided. But best of all may be sitting on the dock and watching the fish jump and observing the visiting birds. Three come regularly--a blue heron, a night heron and an egret. We call them Sherlock, Watson and Moriarity.

The house has 2 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, a living room, kitchen and traditional Florida room overlooking the pool, the dock and canal. A screened porch adjoins the dining area and is perfect for eating in a shady spot after coming out of the pool.

See website below for more photos, information and reviews by visitors. New, and not yet pictured, is the dock described above.

The time of the winner's stay is by mutual agreement and subject to availability. Most likely availability is mid August to mid December.

Girls Leadership Tour with Carolyn Comitta and Dianne Herrin

A wonderful opportunity for girls to meet with our women community leaders: State Senator elect Carolyn Comitta and State Representative elect Dianne Herrin.

Meet Carolyn and Dianne at West Chester Friends School on N. High St. for a walk around West Chester borough for a glimpse of local women's history. This offering is for up to 4 girls, ages 4-14, and content can be adapted according to age.  The focus will be on mentoring girls with their aspirations and encouraging the "I can do anything" spirit being celebrated this year with the 100th anniversary of women's suffrage and the election of Kamala Harris as our first female vice president.

One stop on this walking tour will be in front of the Chester County Historical Society where Suffragists met in 1852 as they organized to demand the vote.  Another stop will be on W. Miner St. where slavecatchers were evaded by a young woman they were trying to entrap thanks to her determination and agility and help from her neighbors. If time permits, the tour will stop at the new women's suffrage mural.  To finish the tour, Dianne and Carolyn will treat the participants to ice cream.

Tour time will be scheduled at a mutually convenient time on a weekend. Exact details of drop off and pick up will be arranged with the tour leaders. Tour duration is about 1.5 to 2 hours.

Whiskey Basket & Manatawny Still Works Tour

For the holidays there's nothing like good spirit and good SPIRITS. Make your holiday evenings a bit merrier with a bottle of locally-produced whiskey from Manatawny Still Works in Pottstown, Pa., and enjoy a tour of the distillery!
Additionally, the book "Tasting Whiskey:  An Insider's Guide to the Unique Pleasures of the World's Finest Spirits" is included in this basket. The book was highly recommended by the distiller, Max Pfeffer, for learning about whiskey.

Manatawny Still Works is a state-of-the-art distillery of the highest quality, small-batch spirits.

Manatawny Creek, an 18.2-mile-long tributary of the mighty Schuylkill River, cuts through the countryside and has become home to a winery, a brewery and now, a distillery. It was first named by the indigenous Lenape Man'en'tau'wata'wik, "the place we meet to drink," and it means the same to us today.

Place your bid today for a chance to try this fine whiskey!

Bringing Baby Home Workshop

A retreat for expecting and new parents

The research-based Bringing Baby Home workshop prepares couples for life with a baby and helps them be the best parenting team possible. It builds on what researcher Dr. John Gottman found is the best predictor of marital adjustment after baby arrives: the quality of friendship in the marriage. In turn, the greatest indicator of a baby's development and growth is the quality of the parents' relationship. In a relaxed and supportive environment, parents learn to strengthen their bond and foster baby's development during this challenging time. Learn the skills needed to encourage healthy, supportive family relationships. The program is offered across 5 evening sessions over Zoom.

2021 sessions available from 6:30-9:30 PM EST are:

Personalized Pet Portrait by Rachel Davis

Ms. Rachel Joy Davis a DelCo-born, Philly-based, ChesCo-volunteering multimedia artist and freelance illustrator who recently has concentrated most of her artwork on her client’s pet portrait requests.

Rachel’s focus and attention to detail bring the life of the animal to the canvas as she can tailor each commission to the preferences of the client: size, texture, background, subject matter and media (including acrylic paint, colored pencil, micropen, marker and mixed media).

She works best by photographic reference so the interested party can send in her favorite photo for replication of their loved one, whether one that has passed on or very much alive playing in the client’s home.

Rachel will work with the client at every step for the perfect final portrait.

Denise Vitollo Art

"Toward the Light" is a genuine Glicee Print of an award winning pastel by West Chester Artist Denise Vitollo. The original pastel just won an Honorary Award at the Philadelphia Pastel Society's First Members Show. This is what Juror Stan Sperlak said about the piece:

GREAT FRAMEUP AWARD
Toward The Light - Denise Vitollo
"Odilon Redon must move over. A new artist and subject has taken his mantle and brought it to a new level. Shimmering light falling deeply through an aquatic wonder captivates the viewer, but because the artist is truthful and original in her vantage point, a new appreciation for the underside of these great creatures emerges. One is swimming with them, feeling the push and pull of the deep water weights. What are they swimming to, do they know I am here, am I one with them? Originality is so important in our work and I have seen enough aerial views of fish to know that this view is long overdue. Congratulations for the power in this work."

The print measures 9 x 11" and is matted with a 2.5" mat, making the outside 14 x 16.
