Model A Hand Crafted Wooden Car

This 1929 Model A Ford Sport Coupe was built in 2000 and it is a limited edition, signed and numbered by the artist. Mick Schraufnagel is a native of Idaho, having grown up in Lewiston and then lived his adult life in Boise.  He has been a master wood worker for over 40 years and has created a number of various items. In 2000, when he started production on 23 cars, he felt like Henry Ford with his production line. He started witht the chassis and worked his way up. Every piece of this car is handmade except the tires. There is about 50 hours of work that goes into each car. This solid wood Model A is made out of purple heart and walnut hard woods. Measures 13-1/2" long x 5-1/2" wide x 6-1/2" high. A history of the Model A Ford Coupe is included

Andrew Wyeth Print

Framed Print of painting by Andrew Newell Wyeth  

(July 12, 1917 – January 16, 2009) was an American visual artist, primarily a realist painter, working predominantly in a regionalist style. He believed he was also an abstractionist, portraying subjects in a new, meaningful way.  

The subject in this painting is his wife, Betsy James. Sandspit shows Betsy seated on a sand bank at Cutler Cove, a small inlet on the St. George River. In this portrayal, Betsy turns her head away, looking off towards the sharply outlined pine trees, her head silhouetted against a bright, pale sky. The empty flatness of that sky stands in bold contrast to the complexly textured foreground of the shell-littered sandbank. In this lower half of the canvas, Wyeth created a surface as riotous, expressive, and free as those of the Abstract Expressionist artists. First he layered smooth washes of color in zones of varying earth tones, which he covered with tiny soft dabs of related tans, grays, and whites. He then repeatedly dragged a fine point, most likely the tip of his brush handle, through the paint to create a mottled texture. Scratches and small divots are visible across the entire surface with the whitish ground revealed in a number of areas. The scraped lines have a furious kinetic quality suggesting rapid and sweeping gestural motions. The result is an unusual finish that mimics the gritty appearance of sand without incorporating actual sand. 

This print is in a frame measuring 17-1/2 x 13-3/4

Nikki is a painter, photographer and mixed media artist and is currently exhibiting her work in venues and galleries throughout the City of Boise.  In the recent past, she was awarded a grant from the Alexa Rose Foundation, and was chosen in 2020 as the Artist in Residence at Surel's Place in the Live-Work-Create District of Garden City. Her work has also been featured, several times on the Boise Weekly cover,  and her art was also showcased at the Annual Juried Show at Art Source Gallery in Downtown Boise. Henry “Hank” Louis Aaron (February 5, 1934 – January 22, 2021), nicknamed "Hammer" or "Hammerin' Hank", was an American professional baseball right fielder and designated hitter who played 23 seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB), from 1954 through 1976. Considered one of the greatest baseball players in history, he spent 21 seasons with the Milwaukee / Atlanta Braves and in the Nationl Legue (NL) and two seasons with the Milwaukee Brewers in the American League (AL). At the time of his retirement, Aaron held most of the game's key career power-hitting records. He broke the long-standing MLB record for career home runs held by Babe Ruth and remained the career leader for 33 years, until Barry Bonds surpassed his famous total of 755 in 2007

Hank Aaron visited the Tower Books for a signing where in Seattle the year his autobiography came out. IJEE Boardmember, Megan Zusne, managed the bookstore at that time. The  line went out the door and around the block. His hand got so tired from signing that he had to take a box of books with him back to his hotel to finish. It was there biggest signing to that date.

Ceramic Frankoma Jug

Frankoma Pottery is an American pottery company located in Glenpool, Oklahoma, but originating in Sapulapa, Oklahoma. The company is known for its sculptures and dinnerware although the company made many other products including figurines, trivets and vases. All Frankoma pottery is made in the US from locally excavated clay. Frankoma was founded in 1933 in Norman, Oklahoma, by John Frank , who was a professor of ceramics at the Univeristy of Oklahoma from 1927 to 1936. The name Frankoma was derived from "Frank" plus the last three letters of "Oklahoma".

Amati Kraslice Bb Clarinet. Amati Kraslice is a manufacturer of wind and percussion instruments based in Kraslice, Czeck Republic. It was formed in 1948 as a national cooperative of several extant manufacturers and privatised in 1993 after the dissolutionof Czechoslovakia. The company originally made violins dating from the 17th century.

This clarinet was made sometime during the Soviet occupation and comes with a case and a Buffet (Paris) mouthpiece.  It has recently been professionally cleaned and adjusted with a new set of key pads and plays very well.

Two Orthoceras Fossils

Orthoceras was an ancient cephalopod that lived about 370 million years ago. The name means straight horn, referring to the characteristic long, straight, conical shell. The preserved shell is all that remains of this ancestor of our modern-day squid. There is some confusion around the name. Scientifically orthoceras is a genus name used only for a particular extinct nautiloid cephalopod from the Baltic states and Sweeden. However it is commonly used to refer to any species of extinct nautiloid cephalopod with a straight cone shaped shell.

Beautiful Russian Hand Painted Box

This is a really beautiful miniature Russian hand lacquered & signed lacquered wood box, with an intricate hand painted scene. On less than a two inch serface it depicts a scene from Russian folklore. Lovely folk art fairy tale trinket box is good for rings, earings or even a "tooth fairy" box.

The translation on the lower section of the tops reads, "Return To The Bogatyr", M. Khaliy, Chain Eliina. 

Approx. 2" x 1-1/2", 1" high X 1/2" deep 

Megan purchased this box on a study abroad trip to Moscow, Russia in 1984.
